MUKTSAR: A team of senior civil, health and police officers of the district raided a flour mill situated on Maur Roar here on Friday evening.
It is reported that 1200 bags of spurious flour, 800 bags of inferior quality wheat, 250 bags of broken rice were found in the godown of the mill. The raiding team sealed the mill after taking samples of the flour.
A case under the provision of Prevention of Food Adulteration Act 1954 has been registered against the parteners of the mill Rakesh Kumar, Poonam Girdhar, and Sita Rani.
It is reported that the deputy commissioner had received a complaint alleging that Miglani Food and General Mill Muktsar was supplying huge quantity of spurious wheat flour in Punjab Delhi and other states under branded names of Shivam Bhog and Durga Bhog.
Around 10 tons of flour are reportedly prepared in the mill. The complainant had alleged that the mill owners grind inferior quality wheat and mix broken rice powder in it.
